"My son cannot read staff notation, so every time I translate the staff notation into A, B, C, D, E and write it on his music list for him. All the music theory is something I’ve been learning myself — only after I learned it and could read the score did I have any way to teach him. Before, I couldn’t even understand the music list myself, so there was no way to teach him. Other people couldn’t teach him either, so we were completely stuck. Only when I became able to teach him myself did we finally make a breakthrough."
